SSC CGL Recruitment 2025 Exam Date Out, Tier 1 Exam From 12 September

The Staff Selection Commission Combined Graduate Level Examination is designed to recruit candidates for various Group B and C posts, including Assistant/Assistant Section Officer (ASO), Assistant Enforcement Officer, Inspector, Sub-Inspector, Assistant, Statistical Investigator Grade-II, Junior Statistical Officer, Accountant/Junior Accountant, and other similar posts. For this year, 14582 Group B and C vacancies are announced for which online registration has ended, and the tier 1 exam is scheduled for 12th to 26th September 2025.  

The Examination procedure has two steps, including Tier 1 and Tier 2, to ensure that only the eligible candidates are chosen for the vacancies announced.

 SSC CGL 2025 Overview:

The Combined Graduate Level Examination 2025 is conducted by the Staff Selection Commission every year. It includes various posts under Income Tax, Customs, CBI, CBDT & CBEC departments. SSC has set some specific criteria for the exam. SSC CGL is conducted in 2 stages: tier 1 and tier 2. Candidates should also have the nationality of India. SSC CGL 2025 Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants should thoroughly check the eligibility requirements to ensure they qualify before proceeding with their applications, as SSC has set specific eligibility criteria for the CGL exam, which include age limits, nationality, and educational qualifications. 

  • Education Qualification (as on 01/08/2025)- Candidates must be bachelor’s degree holders from any other recognised board. 
  • Age Limit (as on 01/08/2025)- The age limit set by the SSC is 18 to 32 years; candidates between this age group can apply.
  • Age Relaxation- As per government norms and discussed in detail in the official notification. 
  • Nationality- The candidate must hold citizenship of India only.

SSC CGL 2025 Exam Pattern:

1. SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam Pattern: 

  • The prelims exam is an objective-type exam 
  • The exam consists of four subjects: General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Comprehension. 
  • The duration of each paper is 1 hour. 
  • Each correct answers constitute 2 marks and for each incorrect answer, ⅕ mark will be deducted. 
  • The marks obtained in the tier 1 are not counted for final selection but are considered for shortlisting candidates for the tier 2 exam

2. SSC CGL Tier 2 Exam Pattern: 

  • The tier 2 exam is a objective-type exam.
  • It consists of two papers: Paper I: (Compulsory for all posts) and Paper II: Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) and Statistical Investigator Gr. II
  • The exam consists of the following compulsory papers : 
  1. Essay 
  2. General Studies-I
  3. General Studies-II
  4. Optional subject (paper 1)
  5. Optional subject (paper 2)
  • The duration of each paper is 3 hours.
  • Each correct answer in paper 1 consists of 3 marks. 
  • Negative Marking: 1 mark for each wrong answer in Section I, Section II and Module I of Section III of Paper I and 0.50 marks in Paper II.
  • The marks obtained in the interview and mains exam, are considered for the final selection.
